On May 20, a distinctive solo exhibit named “The Face of Life” by artist Aminul Islam Ashik commenced at the Zainul Gallery within the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dhaka University with an inauguration ceremony held on Monday.
The seven-day exhibit showcases more than 40 sculptures and drawings along with two video art pieces.

Other notable attendees included Professor Dr Azharul Islam Sheikh, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dhake University; renowned artist Hamiduzzaman Khan; and Mahbubur Rahman, cofounder of Britto Art Trust and an accomplished artist.
A dedicated book about the exhibition, released by ARTCON, made its debut during the inauguration event. This publication has been crafted by ARTCON’s founder, ARK Reepon.
“With immense joy, we honor the inaugural solo exhibition of Aminul Islam Ashik, an esteemed graduate from the Faculty of Fine Arts,” stated Dr. Mamun during the ceremony. At the inauguration and launch of the publication, he emphasized that Aminul’s creations serve as evidence of his profound connection with both the perceptual and intellectual aspects of human existence.
Dr. Mamun commented, “His artwork embodies a continuous conversation with the intricacies of human emotions, identities, and the socio-political dynamics that mold our reality. He portrays the human visage as a emblem of existential change, making it both intensely personal and broadly significant. His sculptures and installations move beyond individual expression, delving into the universal challenges of identity, authority, and endurance that characterize our common humanity.”
