The world’s first fighting competition between humanoid robots in China is a hot topic.
As reported by Chinese media outlets like Sohu, the Mecca Fighting Contest, part of the ‘CMG World Robot Competition Series’ organized by China Media Group’s CCTV, took place in Hangzhou on the 25th. It marks the debut of the world’s first robotic combat event featuring human-shaped robots.
The contest featured two main sections: one for performances showcasing demonstrations, and another where remote operators outside the arena controlled the participants to decide the victor of the battle.
In the competition category, four teams took part, with their robots standing roughly 130 cm in height and weighing around 35 kg each.
The robots were equipped with helmets and gloves, engaging in punches and kicks controlled by human players standing outside the arena.
He successfully dodged attacks and appeared both nimble and steady whenever he stumbled. The win went to a robot named ‘AI Planner.’
However, there were also several quite cringe-worthy moments.
Moments like throwing punches into thin air because of misjudged directions or stumbling over a wrestling rope when quickly retreating occurred.
It was reported that many of the robots in the game sustained damages including scrapes or injuries to their external metallic surfaces.
The audience applauded and was captivated by the performance of human-like robots.
It was assessed that this has paved the way for a fresh turning point in the realms of artificial intelligence and robotics development.
Internet users are anticipated to comment on the advancement of robotics technology, saying things along the lines of “It seems this will turn into a new sport.”
