Keep an eye on your flowers and vegetables because there might be a frost in areas of Pennsylvania and upstate New York by early Sunday morning, should the clouds clear and the wind die down.
After a unusual May nor’easter and a wet beginning to the month, additional showers are anticipated for the Big Apple and the Northeast from Friday through Saturday.
Along the eastern coastline, as families travel to Disney World in Orlando, they might want to include raincoats in their packing list.
“Short-lived yet soaking sea breeze thunderstorms may occur across the Florida Peninsula and typically move from east to west on a daily basis,” stated Pastelok.
Although most of the Southeast region might remain calm, AccuWeather reports an increased chance of thunderstorms over areas including the Gulf, Tennessee Valley, and Plains states. Additionally, thunderstorms are anticipated near cities such as Memphis and Kansas City.
Oscillating fronts accompanied by small storm systems will initiate rainfall and thunderstorms, potentially bringing severe conditions across the Plains region,” explained Pastelok. “Continuous precipitation episodes may occur further north in the central-northern Plains and extending eastward towards the Ohio and Tennessee River valleys, areas characterized by moister soils.
The rain will aid in alleviating drought conditions in certain arid regions, yet campers on overly saturated ground might face the threat of potentially hazardous flash floods. Areas in the center of the country may experience as much as 10 inches of precipitation.
Further to the west, thunderstorms might form all the way up to the Rocky Mountains and down into New Mexico, and the Northwest isn’t expected to remain completely dry.
Nevertheless, it will be mild along the West Coast. Interior Northwest temperatures are predicted to climb into the 80s over this upcoming Sunday and Monday. The Southwest region, however, is set for even higher heat levels.
“Daily temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees in the desert regions, whereas the central and southern areas within California’s inland valley will experience peaks reaching deep into the 90s,” stated Pastelok.
