Fueling the excitement further, Taylor’s track “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)” played during the opening scene.
The dedicated fans highlighted that Moss and her co-star Bradley Whitford had previously gone to a Swift concert in Toronto, the location where the show was shot.
However, Moss stressed, “I’m concerned that isn’t Taylor. She has quite a full schedule. It seems to me that if she were planning to appear on our show, we would have definitely seen her face.”
The former star of “Mad Men” mentioned that the Eras Tour performance she watched in Canada back in November significantly contributed to making Taylor highly prominent in her thoughts.
She mentioned that during the production of season four, when the cast members were completely engrossed in the music artist’s Reputation album, which had just come out.
Elisabeth went on, “She has had quite an extended romance with many members of our cast.”
“I mean, Josh Charles appeared in her music video… Using her music has been something I’ve desired to do, ever since the start,” she told the publication with a chuckle.
“I had intended to mention ‘ever since I became a director,’ however let’s go back to the start! I am thrilled that we didn’t proceed earlier and chose to wait until this moment instead. Given how everything has unfolded, I couldn’t be happier with the outcome,” she expressed.
Following the inclusion of the Taylor song in the episode entitled “Execution,” her supporters erupted with excitement across various online platforms.
A supporter posted on X: ‘Taylor: Takes back control of her music. Also Taylor: Champions a revolution. We: Rising to our feet, applauding, shedding tears.’
‘OH MY GOODNESS, WE ARE SO EXCITED AT LAST,’ another added in.
‘Taylor in “The Handmaid’s Tale”?? That wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card, but count me in,’ another person chimed in.
Elisabeth shared how the scene unfolded, explaining to Billboard, “For years, I’ve aspired to incorporate one of Taylor’s tracks into our show, and we eventually discovered the ideal place for an excerpt from her music. I’m thrilled we held off because this couldn’t have been a better fit for such a special occasion.”
She went on, “Taylor has truly inspired me on a personal level. Being a Swiftie myself—and I believe I can also speak for [costar] Yvonne [Strahovski] and our whole cast, who are all fellow Swifties—it’s incredibly humbling to have the opportunity to feature her music in the concluding episodes of our series.”
