One important thing about my sister is that she loves movies immensely, and plans to name her child after characters from her favourite TV shows and book series (specifically

,
Game of Thrones

I Am Number Four
“)” they went on, then added a request.

I really hope this isn’t true. It breaks my heart thinking about this child being bullied.

They mentioned in their post, ‘My sister doesn’t take me seriously because I’m 15 years her junior, and she assumes I’m just being a critical teen,’

In the image from their baby naming discussion, the worried brother inquired, “Oh neat, what TV shows then?” regarding the source of inspiration for the names.

To which the sibling responded, ”
Naruto
and
Game of Thrones
I also initiated a book series since we crossed paths at the local book club.”

“Uh, hmm, what’s the title again?” the brother or sister then inquired.

“Hinata Daeneries Six,” they confidently responded.

“Really? You certain about that?” replied the brother or sister.

“Absolutely, yes,” her sister penned.

“I was additionally considering using Aziraphale from
Good Omens
As a middle name, but I haven’t informed James about it yet.”

Now, even though the names reflect things she loves and have significance for her, the Redditors weren’t shy with their reactions.

One Reddit user advised waiting 24 hours before showing her the post,” another commenter noted. “Should her desire be granted, it could potentially halve the child’s future opportunities for success. The impact of being bullied will linger like an anchor around her neck.

“Her husband needs to step in as soon as possible,” another commenter noted.

“She knows babies aren’t fan fiction right?” one asked.

“People STILL haven’t learned to not name their kid after the

Character?!” exclaimed another Reddit user. “I’m into TV shows and anime too, but I’d never consider naming my child such an overtly silly name.”

Others recounted their close calls involving baby names.

When I was expecting my second child, I planned to name him Cullen if it turned out to be a boy. Fortunately, I gave birth to a girl the following year.

“I came out, and I’m sure everybody assumed we chose his name because of Edward and ‘Team Cullen,’ rather than simply appreciating a nice Irish moniker,” remarked a grateful parent with relief.

“One person mentioned that her husband’s cousin named their child Ben, inspired by Obi-Wan Kenobi. Quite an understandable choice,” someone commented.

I certainly know a friend who has a child named Arya, a name I’ve been familiar with for quite some time now.

As another turn of events unfolded, the worried brother/sister made a post stating they had shared the Reddit thread with their sister, causing her to become extremely distressed.

They also mentioned that her husband is aware of the name,” he said. “However, he isn’t taking any action.

I’m honestly shocked by my sister’s choice for her future daughter’s name. My parents are now attempting to convince her otherwise. I’m not sure why she’s so adamant about using this name, but whatever.

Clap slowly for their brave attempts.
