On Sunday evening, the Grammy Award-winning singer unexpectedly showed up at a Lorde-inspired event at Mary’s Underground nightclub, surprising and thrilling the audience.
“A user shared on TikTok: ‘Lorde performing at Mary’s Underground in Sydney tonight wasn’t something I had marked on my 2025 bingo card, yet I think I’ve hit a jackpot,’ they wrote.”
The video depicts the 28-year-old artist performing her original lines and grooving with her supporters.

Spontaneous performances and surprise gigs have emerged as a favored promotional strategy for Lorde. In the past month, the artist astounded her audience with an unexpected invitation, urging them to “Join me at the park. See you tonight at 7 PM.”
Many young individuals flocked to Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village, New York, generating a lively ambiance where Lorde’s music was playing loudly. Some participants were seen smoking marijuana, while others climbed up into the branches of trees seeking a clearer vantage point, despite the anticipated concert failing to materialize.
Shortly after 7 pm, Lorde shared on Instagram stories that the scheduled performance wouldn’t take place.
OMG @thepark the police are closing everything down,” she penned. “I’m genuinely astonished by how many of you came!!!! However, they’re informing me that everyone needs to leave… I’m really sorry.
A representative of the Parks and Recreation Department stated that the city has halted the event as it did not have the necessary permits. Nevertheless, several enthusiasts disregarded the directives to depart and ultimately received compensation.
Lorde arrived and ascended a tiny stage, then performed as music issued from a speaker.
