The production of “Waiting for Godot” starring seasoned performers Shin-gu and Park Geun-hyung wrapped up the 15th Seoul show to great success, selling out every seat and leaving both cast and crowd highly impressed with its memorable run.
During this performance, Shingu (89) dominated the stage with intense vocals and nuanced gestures, seemingly giving everything he had. Every word and movement conveyed the profound presence of a seasoned veteran from the theater world. The crowd was captivated by the heartfelt acting evident in both Shingu’s gaze and touch.
At 85 years old, Park Geun-hyung filled the stage with his remarkable acting and magnetism to such an extent that it’s clear why he is hailed as a ‘supreme master of the theater.’ His performance was so captivating that even through subtle gestures and heartfelt expressions, he blurred the lines between the stage and the audience, touching everyone present.
Following its success in Seoul, the play “Waiting for Godot” will embark on a nationwide tour. The itinerary kicks off at the Cosmos Grand Theater within the Guri Art Hall on May 30th and 31st before moving to the Suseong Artpia Grand Theatre in Daegu from June 6th through June 8th. It then heads to the Cheonan Arts Center Grand Performance Hall on June 13th and 14th, followed by performances at the Gunsan Arts Center Grand Performance Hall on June 20th and 21st.
In July, audiences will gather at the Eumseong Cultural & Art Center’s Grand Auditorium on the 4th and 5th, followed by performances at Busan Dongseo University’s Sohyang Theatre Shinhan Card Hall from the 11th through the 13th. Then, they’ll move to the Dangjin Arts Center’s Grand Auditorium for shows on the 18th and 19th. The touring event continues with events at the Incheon Culture & Arts Center Small Auditorium on the 25th and 26th. Concluding this leg of the journey, grand finales take place at the Gumi Culture & Arts Center Grand Auditorium on August 8th and 9th.
The current nationwide tour marks the final performances of “Waiting for Godot” featuring Shin-gu and Park Geun-hyung, offering audiences a rare chance to witness their profound acting and ultimate collaboration. Due to this exclusivity, several venues have reportedly sold out.
