Holds Exhibition For Teachers

The founder of the Culture Art Academy, Augustine Ekhaiyeme, has urged societies and institutions to take significant steps to safeguard the environment from severe threats such as pollution, deforestation, and climate change.

Ekhaiyeme, who is also the organizer of the exhibition, issued this appeal during the inaugural ceremony of a two-day art educators’ exhibit in Lagos. The event was themed “Exploring the Beauty of Wildlife,” and Ekhaiyeme urged attendees to conserve nature, safeguard remaining natural areas, and motivate others to follow suit.

He mentioned that the theme for this year’s presentation highlights the stunning environment encompassing us, which includes vivid hues, grandiose scenery, complex designs, and astonishing animals.

Referring to the exhibit as a jolt for people, organizations, and society at large, Ekhaiyeme, who is also the organizer of the display, stated: “It is crucial for us to join forces in safeguarding our environments from threats such as contamination, forest depletion, and global warming.”

Explaining why the exhibition was organized for educators, he stated, “Teachers, especially those who specialize in arts, often feel undervalued; many have begun doubting their careers as creative professionals. This event aims to reignite their belief in the significance of their work.”

Nonetheless, he urged parents to motivate their children to pursue art subjects at school, stating, “I’ve encountered instances where many parents coerced their kids into taking up scientific or business-related classes instead. Studying art doesn’t hinder your ability to achieve what you aspire to; rather, both the government and various organizations should promote artistic education. They must ensure that resources needed for learning these subjects become more accessible and affordable for families.”

Next, we must elevate the notion that art is solely for the lower classes from people’s minds; all professions hold equal importance.

At the event, the Director General of the Nigeria Conservation Foundation, Joseph Onoja, also addressed the audience. He mentioned that the exhibition, which included educators from both Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, promotes creative expression and strengthens the collective dedication to environmental education and preservation via art.

Onoja suggests that art, through its powerful emotional impact and universal communication, can convey the critical importance of wildlife preservation as narratives that resonate with children, communities, and policymakers alike.

He praised the educators who extended their reach beyond the classroom to serve as emissaries for wildlife preservation, stating: “This exhibit transcends mere artistry; it serves as an urgent appeal for change, fostering conversation between nature and civilization, and acting as a conduit uniting cultural expression with environmental stewardship.”

In similar fashion, Raphael James from the Center for Research, Information and Media Development (CRIMMD) praised the organizers of the exhibition, stating that it would enhance public understanding regarding the protection of nature and wildlife as depicted through visual art.

The allure of wildlife lies in its vibrant colors, intricate textures, and captivating behaviors that captivate our minds and stir our spirits. The natural world is a precious realm brimming with intriguing beings eager to be discovered.

“As we admire the splendor of wildlife, we are also reminded of our duty to safeguard and conserve these amazing animals and their environments,” he said.

Several educators involved in the exhibition praised the organizers during interviews conducted throughout the event, commending them for providing a platform to demonstrate their innate talents granted by a higher power.
