Fans Stunned: Major Change ‘Ruins’ Beloved ‘Walking With Dinosaurs’ Show

May 29, 2025

A reboot of iconic
BBC
series Walking With
Dinosaurs
came back to television screens tonight, 26 years after its initial episode was broadcasted.

The first of
six hotly-anticipated brand new episodes
tracked the story of three-month-old Triceratops Clover as she tried to endure a tough landscape, with a voracious T-Rex chasing her.

Throughout her journey, the orphaned dinosaur encounters a young Edmontosaurus companion who becomes fast friends… only for misfortune to strike soon after.

Taking over from the initial storyteller
Sir Kenneth Branagh
,
The remade version of “Walking With Dinosaurs”
is voiced by
The Crown
star Bertie Carvel, who is along with Clover for every step of her perilous jaunt.

However, Bertie isn’t the sole human featured in the show’s lineup; it has since been expanded to incorporate scenes set in modern times. In these segments, experts study fossilized dinosaur droppings and scrutinize actual remains of dinosaurs like Clover.

This format alteration has sparked controversy amongst traditionalists, who have retaliated by stating that the program has been ‘irreparably damaged.’

As the premiere of X took place, viewers expressed their opinions about the brand new “Walking With Dinosaurs.”

‘The frequent shifts between past and future disrupt the experience for me. The original “Walking with Dinosaurs” never did this, which was one of the reasons it was so popular,’ wrote @AmyTeamLH, concluding: ‘We want dinosaurs, not humans.’

@miss_laura_82 concurred, stating: “I prefer the original version with dinosaurs rather than all these scenes set in contemporary excavations. They should create a Jurassic time team just so we can watch the dinosaurs.”

‘Are they going to interject the experts talking about dinosaurs with the Dinosaur reenactments? If they are going to do this all season, then sorry, I’m out!’, said @RealEnli.

@Darklordofall23 lamented, ‘Seriously, what have they done to “Walking with Dinosaurs”? Why are there humans? And why are we watching people use drones? I’ve hardly seen any dinosaurs, and this is just episode one.’

Upcoming episodes will journey back to prehistoric Morocco, home of an enormous Spinosaurus – the biggest dinosaur to ever walk the land – as it prowls through the nearby rivers.

In today’s time, an excavation crew uncovers various insights into a community of Albertosaurus, whereas, back in the days, a young female hunter strives to establish her worth within her clan.

At the same time, in Portugal, a seasoned Lusotitan endeavours to ensure his lineage by seeking companionship, confronting a youthful adversary when he finds his partner.

The BBC commissioner stated: “A brand-new generation of audiences will soon be captivated by ‘Walking With Dinosaurs.'”

‘The initial series stood out as one of the most thrilling factual programs ever, and this reboot amplifies that incredible heritage.’

‘Every episode is supported by the most recent scientific research yet brims with excitement—making this show perfect for dinosaur enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys an excellent narrative.’
