A Nigerian teenager gained recognition when JAMB announced her scores following a retake of her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The JAMB directed that approximately 379,000 candidates must retake the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) due to an error that led to their unsuccessful result.

A girl shed tears upon viewing her initial score.

In a Facebook post, the young woman recounted her feelings upon viewing her initial score, explaining that she shed tears as she realized it did not belong to her.

Once rewritten, she presented her updated outcome, indicating that her revised score stood at 280.

She said:

Between scores 159 and 280, God is supreme. Upon seeing my initial result, tears welled up as I realized it wasn’t mine; sharing this with my parents seemed impossible at the time. I scoured the internet to find out what universities might consider such a score, feeling quite disillusioned.

As fate would have it, Jamb chose to rearrange the schedule for the impacted students. This made me feel both thrilled and anxious. Thrilled because we had another chance; anxious because managing to study four subjects in just 24 hours seemed daunting. Therefore, I did my utmost to focus on key areas that might be tested.

As Providence has willed, recently I achieved a score of 280, for which I am deeply thankful to God. I pray that acceptance will be our share this year, Amen.

The student scored 61 in English, 83 in Igbo, and 68 each in Government and Literature.
