Kumasi, May 31, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Center for National Culture (CNC), along with the Bongo Development Queen (Bongo Tlinmalego Pognaba) and several collaborators, has formally inaugurated this year’s Dansika Fugue Batakari Exhibition and Festival in Kumasi.
This occasion acts as a stage for rejuvenating culture, fostering economic growth, safeguarding traditions, and promoting community advancement.
This year’s festival theme focuses on “Celebrating Genuine Northern Ghanaian Crafts and Brining Cultural Traditions Straight to You.”
The festival seeks to highlight the vibrancy of Ghanaian culture by blending northern and southern customs, fostering cultural interchange, and providing marketplace chances for the Dansika Fugue Batakari.
The scheduled key events encompass a Royal Durbar, traditional performances, showcases of authentic northern art and craft, as well as the Eat Ghana – Northern Foodfest, highlighting the abundant gastronomic traditions of northern Ghana.
Mr. Peter Marfo, the Director of the CNC, stated during his speech at the event that combining the traditions from northern and southern Ghana could promote national cohesion as well as highlight the nation’s distinctive cultural heritage.
He pointed out that this initiative would provide new market access for local weavers and artisans, thereby generating substantial economic benefits for them.
Furthermore, this would enhance the cultural importance of Batakari designs, bolstering their sense of identity and heritage.
Madam Helene Adonkolgo, the Development Queen of Bongo, further stated that the exhibition and festival would offer increased exposure for artisans, enabling them to grow their crafts and attract larger audiences.
She emphasized how the festival plays a part in honoring history while also forging the future via creative and innovative means.
She additionally motivated the young attendees to take encouragement from the event and delve into weaving along with various other crafts as viable methods for enhancing their quality of life sustainably.
