The spouse of a previous Nigerian president, Patience Jonathan, has been awarded a PhD in Psychology, Guidance, and Counseling from Ignatius Ajuru University of Education.
As she took the opportunity to motivate Nigerian women and young people to adopt continuous education.
The information was revealed in a statement issued by Chris Okeke, the ex-first lady’s media advisor, on Sunday.
At the university’s 43rd Postgraduate Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, Jonathan emphasized the profound impact of education, underlining that one’s age should not limit their educational aspirations.
She stated, “It doesn’t matter if you’re young or old; no age is too late to pursue your educational aspirations.”
If I managed to do it, then you can certainly do it.
I think that even after retiring, age should not be a barrier to returning to school since education offers the chance to continually rejuvenate your mind and acquire fresh knowledge.
“I would like to seize this moment to motivate Nigerian women and young people to strive for excellence by pursuing high-quality education.”
Jonathan attributed her scholarly accomplishments to Nigerian women, reinforcing her dedication to advocating for the rights and well-being of marginalized populations, particularly focusing on women, children, and young people.
She vowed to step up her endeavors in championing their progress and to keep fostering discussions aimed at improving societal conditions.
Looking back at her journey, she attributed her achievements to divine grace along with the backing of her loved ones.
Primarily, I am deeply thankful to the Supreme Being who has turned this day into a reality.
He helped me through the program, so I am really pleased today.
I extend my sincere gratitude to my family, particularly to my beloved spouse, His Excellency Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for his unwavering support and highly valuable inputs.
I am deeply thankful to my wonderful and dear children who demonstrated immense understanding and affection during the time I was involved in this program.
