At only 14 years old, Abigail Zagala is already reshaping the possibilities for teens.
The young genius from Arizona has recently completed her Bachelor’s degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU), and as a result, numerous law schools around the nation are eager to have her join their programs.
At just 8 years old, Abigail started her journey into mathematics and had finished high school by the time she turned 11. She achieved this impressive feat with a stellar grade point average of 4.33. Additionally, Abigail received the prestigious Dean’s Medal from Arizona State University’s New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, which recognizes outstanding academic performance among students.

Abigail began reading at age 2, mastered algebra by 8, and obtained an associate degree from a community college prior to attending ASU, according to her mother, Sarah Zagala. “She flourishes in unfamiliar settings and tackles difficulties with great zeal,” she added.
Even though she was advanced in years, Abigail expressed that she didn’t wish to simply take her college classes remotely or from home; instead, she desired to attend school physically. “Initially, I felt anxious. However, I came to understand that I had every right to be here as much as anybody else. My zeal for education led me to realize that this is exactly where I needed to be.”
Her instructors concur. Deborah Jo Borden, who lectures at ASU, noted that Abigail distinguished herself both intellectually and emotionally. “Abigail pays attention, contemplates deeply, and questions concepts. She embodies what every professor wishes for in a student,” says Borden.
Abigail’s aspiration to become a human rights attorney stemmed from a deeply personal drive. Following involvement in initiatives supporting those unjustly imprisoned and motivated by her grandfather—a 34-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force—Abigail expressed feeling compelled to advocate for the rights of others.
She mentioned, ‘He was protecting our rights, and I wish to do the same,’.
Currently, Abigail is receiving proposals from various law schools throughout the United States. Although she hasn’t yet made up her mind about which institution to attend, she has a distinct objective: someday founding a nonprofit that provides pro bono legal assistance to underprivileged populations.

Even though Abigail has taken an advanced route academically, she maintains that she is primarily a typical teen. Her interests include coloring her fingernails, gaming, and spending time with buddies.
