Smoke and Stack have come back from the dazzling lights of

to their hometown of
Jacksonville
, Mississippi, dreaming big about launching their very own blues bar – getting it up and running that evening with some assistance from their buddies.
On their first night, everything seems to be running smoothly until three unwelcome visitors show up at their doorstep, determined to get inside by whatever means required.
The
‘horny’ and ‘gory’ flick
achieved immediate popularity, earning accolades from both audiences and reviewers for its outstanding music score, compelling acting by the entire cast, and its distinctive storyline
investigating topics ranging from colonialism to feminine sexuality
.
Although its conclusion left potential for the Sinners storyline to proceed, Black Panther creator Coogler has stated his desire to move away from developing franchise movies.
“I’ve been involved in franchise movies for some time now, so I felt like stepping back from that,” he said in an interview with Ebony magazine.
‘I was eager to work on a film that felt both original and personally meaningful to me, and I was keen on presenting something fresh and distinctive to viewers.’
‘I envisioned the film as a complete dining experience: from appetizers to main courses and desserts, I wanted every element included. My aim was for it to be a cohesive and polished piece. This was the approach I took throughout the planning stages. It has been my objective from the beginning.’
Although followers of “Sinners” won’t get a follow-up movie, the remarkable film can still be seen on the big screen at certain theaters.

Released earlier this year, Sinners has
absolutely dominated the box office
, grossing a substantial $267 million (£197 million) domestically and adding another $83 million (£61 million) internationally (as reported by Box Office Mojo).
It soon climbed to the top spot as the highest-grossing original film of the year, surpassing A Minecraft Movie at the US box office.
Currently, Sinners ranks as the eighth highest-earning movie of 2025, narrowly trailing Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and Thunderbolts.

a near-perfect 97% rating

Rotten Tomatoes
With the critic’s consensus stating: “A thrilling blend of exceptional visual narrative and infectious tunes, writer-director Ryan Coogler’s inaugural original big-budget film showcases the complete extent of his unique vision.”
