On June 2nd, Pakistan saw a wave of nostalgia with the return of the iconic ’90s Pakistani television series “Ainak Wala Jin.” The show has been revived and remastered in HD quality, courtesy of PTV who started posting episodes on YouTube last month. This reintroduction promises delight for long-time enthusiasts as well as younger audiences discovering the program anew.
First broadcast from 1993 to 1996 on PTV Lahore Center, this popular fantasy drama captivated audiences with its enchanting stories about jinns, fairies, and wizards hailing from Koh Qaf. Directed by Hafeez Tahir and brought to life through the production efforts of Zaib Shehzad, the series enjoyed such immense success that it saw repeat broadcasts from 2005 to 2008 because of its enduring appeal.
Not just a fun watch for children, Ainak Wala Jin also offered lessons in good behavior and moral values. Because of its wide appeal, the show even received a remake, which was previously uploaded to YouTube. Now, PTV is re-releasing the original version with improved quality, uploading one episode daily on its official YouTube channel.
The comeback of the series has elicited strong emotions from moms and dads eager to share with their kids the enchanting universe they cherished as youngsters. By bringing this back online, different age groups have found common ground, binding family members via timeless tales.
Nevertheless, audiences are also paying tribute to the skilled performers who gave life to the series but have since left us. Matloob ur Rehman (portraying Muna Lahori as Zakoota Jin) sadly passed away in February 2018. Prior to this, Nusrat Ara Begum, known for her role as Bill Batori, departed in October 2017.
Upon its re-release, Ainak Wala Jin keeps captivating viewers, demonstrating that compelling narratives remain timeless. The series’ mystical appeal is bewitching audiences anew—now in enhanced clarity.
