Now, with the revised fare increased to Rs. 100 per trip, anticipated revenue is projected to increase to Rs. 2.33 billion. Nevertheless, ensuring ongoing stable operations and maintaining top-notch, environmentally friendly, air-conditioned bus services requires the CDA to continue providing a significant annual subsidy of Rs. 2.79 billion.
The aim of adjusting fares is not to place an additional load on citizens; rather, it’s a crucial move by the CDA to guarantee top-notch travel services, enhance overall service quality, and uphold long-term public confidence as well as stable transportation conditions.
The extra income will be channeled directly into routine bus upkeep, increasing the vehicle fleet, expanding route coverage, cutting down wait periods, enhancing overall service quality, maintaining hygiene standards, ensuring greater security, and providing a superior travel experience for commuters on every route within Islamabad.
Significantly, despite this revision, the CDA remains responsible for covering more than 54% of the costs associated with providing top-notch travel amenities to the public.
