Canadian Film Fest at Alhamra: A Celebration of Cross-Cultural Collaboration

Lahore, June 3 — The Lahore Arts Council, working together with the High Commission of Canada, presented an engaging Canadian Film Festival at Alhamra. This event attracted crowds and facilitated significant cultural interchange between Canada and Pakistan.

The gathering showcased eight notable Canadian films delving into a range of topics relevant to different aspects of existence, attracting a substantial and enthusiastic audience. This collaborative effort underscored the shared admiration and expanding creative collaboration between the countries involved.

The High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan, H.E. Leslie Scanlon, conveyed her delight regarding the festival’s successful outcome, remarking, “This event seeks to enhance cultural comprehension and cooperation via the medium of Canadian film. As an international language, art fosters unity among individuals, which such gatherings exemplify.”

Chairman Alhamra, Razi Ahmed, stated, “Canada and Pakistan have maintained a robust and longstanding partnership for more than 77 years, built upon common principles and reciprocal assistance. This festival reinforces our steadfast dedication to uphold this bond through every circumstance.”

The Executive Director, Alhamra Tauqeer Haider Kazmi, stated, “Alhamra continues to be committed to safeguarding our cultural boundaries while constructing pathways for mutual comprehension. By engaging in these significant partnerships, we persistently draw various communities nearer via artistic expressions and narrative sharing.”

The Canadian Film Festival provided Lahore’s audience with an insight into Canadian society and further solidified Alhamra’s position as a key center for global cultural exchange.
