Pakistan, June 2 — Prominent fashion designer and actor Hassan Sheheryar Yasin (HSY) has stepped up to support Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Hania Aamir following criticisms directed at them for failing to openly condemn India. In a recent interview, HSY expressed that he holds personal relationships with these celebrities and regards them as devoted Pakistani citizens who consistently demonstrate their commitment to their nation.
Addressing public backlash, HSY acknowledged that people expected a stronger response from the actors during recent tensions between Pakistan and India. However, he explained that the actors did express their stance in their own way, even if it didn’t fully meet the public’s expectations.
He pointed out that due to the significant roles these individuals play in the film industry, everyone expected strong responses from them. However, many supporters felt let down as they believed the actors’ comments did not match the fervor needed during such periods of national tension.
HSY clarified that although the stars didn’t use harsh words against India, they did condemn the events, including the May 7 attacks on Pakistan and the April 22 incident in occupied Kashmir. Still, critics believed their words weren’t strong enough to counter India’s narrative.
In spite of the backlash, HSY remained supportive of his celebrity peers. He characterized Fawad Khan as an intensely nationalistic person who usually shuns public attention. He also commended Mahira Khan for her dedication to her nation and noted that she wouldn’t think twice before making sacrifices for it.
HSY mentioned that despite being a newcomer to the industry, Hania Aamir demonstrates equal sincerity and devotion to her country. Describing her as a dear friend, he highlighted how she consistently expresses her affection for Pakistan. Finally, he encouraged everyone to have faith in their motives and recognize that expressions of patriotism vary widely among individuals.
