The relatives of a Scottish person who has gone missing in Portugal have expressed their deep sorrow and are urgently requesting assistance from local residents to aid in locating him.

The concerned parents of Greg Monks, Lynne McGloin and Gordon Monks, along with his girlfriend Nicole Ashleigh Kelso, have traveled to Albufeira to participate in the search for the 38-year-old man amidst increasing worries about his wellbeing.

The plant mechanic from
Glasgow
was last spotted on Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning during the initial night of his five-day bachelor party with buddies.

Mr. Monks, who is set to serve as a groomsmen at his friend’s wedding, informed his friends that he planned to return to his vacation rental but hasn’t been spotted since then.

Greg’s sibling, Jillian Monks, stated: “We are truly facing difficulties. We are residing in a nightmare; this situation is nauseating.”

Ms. Monks stated that according to the police, her brother was last seen on surveillance cameras in the less crowded residential neighborhood of Cerro de Águia, located approximately four miles away from the Novochoro Apartments where he had registered.

The hillock featuring residential areas is situated over an hour’s stroll west from the Albufeira Strip, according to where Mr. Monks is believed to have parted ways with his companions.

Mrs. Monks, who has had to stay in Glasgow with her two young children, mentioned that traveling to Portugal allowed her parents to feel as though they are making an effort to search for him.

She has created a social media page aimed at increasing consciousness about the ongoing search.

In a post, she expressed her gratitude to British tourists, expatriates, and residents for their support, stating: “As mentioned before, this situation is completely out of character for Greg, and we are genuinely eager to find some explanations.”

‘I am now seeking help from residents of the Cerro de Águia area to please check any home cameras or doorbell footage between around 2am and 5am on Wednesday as police believe he was in the area around this time.

Kindly share this with anyone who might be in the area. I appreciate your ongoing support.” She subsequently added, “We urgently need help.

The family fear Mr Monks became lost in the unfamiliar surroundings and may have had an accident.

Medical facilities have undergone inspections with no positive results; however, the authorities are believed not to have conducted a thorough examination of healthcare centers as of now.

This would entail police officers visiting hospital wards to verify the identities of patients who were admitted without adequate documentation.

Mrs. Monks has characterized her brother as a ‘very diligent person’ and a ‘reserved individual,’ noting that his sudden vanishing ‘raised immediate concerns.’

She mentioned that he sports an incomplete Thor-style Viking tattoo atop his right arm, which could show if he wore a sleeveless top or went shirtless.

It is reported that Ms. Kelso reviewed Mr. Monk’s case to identify what was lacking. Consequently, the family thinks he was last seen wearing a navy blue Nike shirt and shorts when he vanished.

A GoFundMe campaign established for the family to aid in the search had surpassed £14,700 as of yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Monks’ other sibling, Carlyn, similarly implored individuals via social media platforms when she posted about the family’s request for assistance yesterday.

She penned: ‘Kindly continue sharing this and assist in bringing my brother back home.’
