It’s hard to put into words how deeply sorrowful we are feeling. To us, Rotich, you were much more than an assistant; you were part of our family. You cared for us and the children with great tenderness, and they loved having you around as much as we did. Just last week, you reached out saying, “Ma’am, my physician mentioned that I’m progressing quite well. In two weeks, I should be able to return to work.” There was such promise and vitality about you. “How is my boss faring? And what about the children?”
Lucia expressed her gratitude for his commitment to the family and mentioned that they would feel his absence.
I am immensely grateful for your consistent commitment, your silent fortitude, and your lovely essence. You will be profoundly missed, yet your impact will endure within us and through the tales we shall keep sharing of the remarkable person you embodied.
The previous CS described him as a beloved brother and genuine friend known for his loyalty.
He remembered the way they had traversed the globe together and brought up their kids throughout his 18-year career.
For eighteen years, Corporal Jonah Kemboi Rotich hasn’t merely served as my reliable security advisor; he’s also become a beloved brother and genuine friend—family through and through. Both professional and compassionate, unassuming yet resolute, unwaveringly faithful and truthful without question, his constant support has surrounded me across various circumstances. Together we’ve tackled work challenges, explored different countries, shared dreams, nurtured our kids, formed a close-knit clan, and jointly honored our sole deity—I adhering steadfastly to Roman Catholicism and he devotedly following Seventh-day Adventism,” he penned down.
Ababu mentioned that both he and his family experienced a sense of security when the late assistant was around.
The previous CS stressed that their relationship was founded on shared trust instead of tribal divides.
My family and I have experienced security under Rotich’s care, which holds significant value in a culture preoccupied with prioritizing narrow tribal divisions over genuine human relationships. Truly, Rotich has been just as comfortable within the Mulembe community of Ingo/Western as I have felt in his familiar surroundings of Kitwek in Cherangany and Eldoret. This serves as a vivid example of building a cohesive country past superficial judgments and childish ethnic nationalism.
The ex-CS disclosed that he was dealing with several health issues and his funeral would take place on June 3rd.
