Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has responded to a trending video allegedly released by a member of his family concerning the death of his wife, affirming that his family remains united.
He emphasized that numerous such innuendos and attacks on his reputation by critics would not divert him from his dedication to executing the ARISE Agenda and upholding his social pact with the citizens of Akwa Ibom.
While responding to queries from journalists based at Government House concerning the widely circulated video involving his family members, the governor disclosed this information as he arrived at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo. He was attending the 60th birthday event for the ex-Deputy Governor, Obong Nsima Ekere, which took place on Saturday during the celebration.
He stated, “Given the current political climate, such occurrences will likely increase. As for my family, they remain together, as evident by their presence here.”
“The event we are talking about happened immediately after my wife passed on, and that was last year. So why is it surfacing and trending now? Why is it on the eve of the second anniversary, when we are celebrating the milestones we have achieved?
“This teaches me that there are detractors around. My family is intact. You can see that Jane herself is here; that’s Helen and her husband. So, we have a good family.
The stress experienced by children who have lost someone dear to them can be traumatizing, and this reality needs acknowledgment.
All I can ask of the public is that it shouldn’t evoke painful recollections. Losing my wife has been devastating enough, and I hope they will let her gentle spirit find eternal peace.
I must stay undistracted. I maintain my focus and will keep serving the good people of Akwa Ibom. I hope nobody experiences what I went through. Therefore, to those circulating these rumors, if that’s their desire, may they find success.
