A moment from the discussion

Recently, the relatives of the deceased musician Dada Kwaku Duah, widely recognized as Dada KD, had a meeting with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA). They discussed the last arrangements for a week-long tribute event honoring him.

The event has been set for June 21 at the East Legon Executive Club.

Heading the family delegation was Nana Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, the ex-Vice President of MUSIGA, who verified that the arrangements are progressing smoothly.

He conveyed deep appreciation to MUSIGA for their consistent backing throughout this challenging period. Nana Kaakyire likewise emphasized the importance of calmness and reverence as the family grieves, appealing to everyone to avoid dramatizing the details around Dada KD’s death, ensuring he gets a respectful and proper funeral.

The president of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons, looked back at his personal connection with Dada KD, which started in the early 2000s following their meeting in Germany.

“Dada KD was an excellent gentleman—kind-hearted, modest, and exceptionally skilled. His loss will be deeply felt,” he stated.

President Simons assured the family that MUSIGA will fully support them in honoring the late artist’s legacy. Dada KD’s collection featured popular tracks such as ‘Fathia Fata Nkrumah’, ‘My Heart Goes Boom,’ and ‘Odo Mu Anigye.’

The family contingent consisted of Kojo Brefo (brother), Michelle Sarfoah Dwomoh (niece), Kwame Kenyase (brother), Henrietta Akosua Dwomoh-Mantey (sister), John Juran Oduro (nephew), and Daniel Oduro (brother).

The MUSIGA delegation included S.K. Agyemang (General Secretary), Ahuma Bosco Ocansey (Director of Special Projects and Communications), and Brenda Badawiisi Zulfata Issah (Personal Assistant to the MUSIGA President).

The seven-day festival aims to serve as an appropriate tribute to a exceptional artist whose melodies and essence inspired numerous individuals.
