Lahore, June 4 — The Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan hosted an informative seminar entitled “The Reasons Behind and Methods for Performing Sunnah Ibrahami” at their main office in Lahore. Under the leadership of Professor Dr. Hafeez Ur Rehman, who serves as the foundation’s president, this event was designed to enhance understanding regarding the religious significance, moral values, and practical procedures associated with Qurbani (sacrifice) during Eid-ul-Adha. Attendees were enlightened on the spiritual importance of Qurbani, correct practices according to Islamic guidelines, cleanliness protocols, storage strategies for meat, and safeguarding measures for animal hides post-slaughter.

During his keynote speech, Professor Dr. Hafeez ur Rehman highlighted that Qurbani stands as a divine mandate symbolizing submission, dedication, and sacrificial spirit. He detailed the vast scale of Alkhidmat Foundation’s Qurbani initiatives, benefiting numerous impoverished households throughout Pakistan and beyond. “Annually, we set up Qurbani sites countrywide; these efforts involve coordinated actions from national, regional, district, and community-level teams along with committed volunteers who ensure accountability and openness,” he stated. For instance, in 2024, Alkhidmat managed to perform sacrifices involving 5,808 larger livestock and 2,835 smaller ones within both Pakistan and Gaza. “Many families subsisting beneath the poverty threshold rely solely on Eid-ul-Adha for their annual intake of meat. This responsibility weighs heavily upon us, driving continuous enhancement of our procedures each year,” he further noted.

Dr. Hafeez disclosed that Alkhidmat’s initiatives include supporting Palestinians through Qurban offerings. “In Egypt, we have arranged for 1,000 cattle to be slaughtered exclusively for Palestinian refugees,” he stated. He added, “The fresh meat will be distributed right away, with sealed, properly packaged canned goods having a shelf life of up to two years ready to send once the borders reopen.”

Zikrullah Mujahid, who serves as the Chairman of Community Services and holds the position of Central Vice President at Alkhidmat Foundation, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to upholding stringent standards. He stated, “Every step, from choosing animals to distributing the meat, adheres strictly to health and hygiene regulations.”

Javed Kasuri from the central Punjab branch of Jamaat-e-Islami, Amir Mehmood Cheema, the national director for community services at Alkhidmat, Dr. Kashif Noman from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Dr. Zubair Bari (Retired), as well as Muhammad Nawaz Dogar contributed additional perspectives covering areas such as animal welfare, food safety related to meat, and optimal logistics strategies.

The seminar was skillfully moderated by Shoaib Hashmi, who serves as the Senior Manager of Media Relations at Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan.
