The family of 26-year-old Fayoke Akande has appealed for public attention regarding the tragic demise of their daughter, who they claim was murdered by her spouse.
The man named Koyede Omolebi reportedly murdered his spouse at their residence located on Imose Street in Erin Oke.
Mr. Olu Akande, the late uncle, who spoke with Nigerian Tribune, mentioned that the husband contacted the deceased mother on May 14th in the morning to inform her about the death of her daughter.
Akande mentioned that the incident was reported to the police station and appealed to the Osun State Police Command to guarantee that justice is served in this case.
Mr Akande stated that the deceased encountered her spouse during their studies at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and became pregnant as a result. He added that she entered his residence without seeking approval from the family.
He stated, “On the morning of May 14, he contacted the victim’s mother to notify her about the death of her daughter, and we believe foul play was involved. We are certain that this individual murdered our daughter.”
“We are appealing to the state government to assist us with this issue. Our only desire is justice for our daughter. This should not have happened to her. The person responsible for her death needs to face consequences,” Mr Akande implored.
Mr. Akande mentioned that the case has been handed over to the state Criminal Investigation Department, and he also noted that an autopsy was conducted on Saturday at the Wesley Guild Hospital in Ilesa the previous Saturday.
The case has been transferred to the homicide division of the state Criminal Investigation Department, and an autopsy was conducted last Saturday. Our only wish is for justice.
Upon reaching out, the state police spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, verified that the case had been reported to their command. He also mentioned that they were currently questioning the primary suspect—the late individual’s spouse—at the State Criminal Investigation Department within their jurisdiction.
He added that the inquiries into the case were still underway and assured everyone of his commitment to uncovering the core of the issue.
