Organizations such as the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Against Normalization, alongside the National Action Group for Palestine, have declared their involvement in the international protest aimed at halting the genocide and ending the blockade of Gaza. This demonstration is set to reach Cairo on June 12, with participants expected to return on June 20.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, the National Action Group for Palestine announced their participation in an international effort involving entities from 32 nations. This collective endeavor plans to proceed towards El-Arish Governorate in Egypt’s Sinai region before moving onward to Rafah. Their objective includes “lifting the blockade” and stopping the assault initiated by the Israeli forces, as well as ensuring that “the passages remain open” so essential relief can reach the bereaved yet steadfast households within Palestine.
The group’s secretariat stated in their declaration that history would be ashamed and disgraced by the plight of the Palestinian people, who have been struggling for around a hundred years for their liberty, sovereignty, and the reclaiming of their homeland from those they view as aggressors and occupants. They further condemned that over 600 days have passed since the residents of the Gaza Strip started experiencing what they characterized as genocide, mentioning almost “200,000 martyrs and wounded” starting from October 7, 2023.
It clarified that the Group’s involvement aims to encourage Moroccans interested in joining the march and manage the required bureaucratic processes accordingly. In pursuit of this objective, they dispatched a communication to the Egyptian Embassy in Morocco seeking an audience with the ambassador. Nonetheless, the Group observed that their appeal remains unanswered thus far.
“The group has also sent a letter to the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requesting their intervention with the appropriate Egyptian authorities to ease Morocco’s involvement in this worldwide event,” they noted additionally.
At the press conference, the organizers outlined the proposed schedule: arriving at Cairo Airport on June 12, traveling to El-Arish on June 13, and starting the walk to Rafah either late on June 13 or early on June 14. People joining in will remain in Rafah for three nights from June 16 through June 18 before heading back to Cairo on June 19. They will end their journey with an overnight stay in Cairo on June 19, departing again on June 20.
