The government has confirmed with “profound sorrow” the sad demise of a South African national in West Virginia, United States.

“The consulate in Washington D.C. is offering comprehensive support to the family,” stated the Department of International Relations and Cooperation on Tuesday.

The department states that the situation around the woman’s demise is still being actively probed by the pertinent U.S. agencies.

“Due to the ongoing investigation, the sensitive nature of the case, and respecting the privacy of the mourning family, the South African Government will refrain from offering additional detailed comments at present,” the department stated.

Reports suggest that Kim White Towne, who hails from Cape Town, may have been murdered by her spouse, Alexander Towne, an American, following an argument where she was reportedly choked last month.
