From Civil Servant to Shaman: A Former Yung Tak Officer’s Heartwarming Family Tale (Sweet Brother)

Young-tak candidly shared his endearing family story.

On February 2nd, Kim Eung-soo and Young-tak were featured as guests on YouTuber Salty Brother Shin Dong-yeop’s channel.

When discussing his family, Kim Eung-soo mentioned, “My mother has a kindhearted spirit. It constantly worries me. Doesn’t your mother seem like a deity? She showered more love upon her impartial and unattractive child, revealing how much he cherishes his mother.”

In response, Shin Dong-yup mentioned, “‘Youngtak’s mother also stated, ‘Since Youngtak kept getting injured during his childhood due to his mother.’” He persisted in attending church “because of Yeongtak’s family history,” explaining, “‘There has to be a God watching over him; otherwise, Youngtak would keep facing harm.'”

Kim Eung-soo was deeply touched by his mother’s affection, mentioning, ‘It astonished me when I heard this from Young-tak.’ Meanwhile, Shin Dong-yup expressed, ‘Regardless of what’s right or wrong, the depth of my mother’s feelings is immense; she has a boundless heart towards her child.’

In reply, Youngtak said, “Thank you so much.” Initially, his major was in Advertising and Public Relations. His parents worked as civil servants; additionally, his father had a lengthy career in the military, whereas his grandfather led a school as an educator. He admitted, “Even though our home might feel confined when shut, once opened, it can still be restrictive and uninteresting. Changing courses becomes challenging under such circumstances, yet I remained highly aware.”

Yeongtak aspired to secure a regular job and lead an easygoing lifestyle. During one period, he refrained from contacting his father for around four years due to not performing music. At another point, they had a rift between them. When Yeongtak decided to pursue trot music, people commented, “His performance is just like a song,” which he acknowledged at the time.
