Thai Beauty Crowned Miss World

Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri from Miss World Thailand was crowned Miss World at the 72nd edition of the Miss World competition held in Hyderabad, India, on Saturday evening.

Opal, who is 22 years old, studies political science. She participated along with 108 other contestants.

She was the first Miss World from Thailand.

The initiative called “Opal for Her,” which she has championed for more than three years, focuses on raising awareness about breast cancer. Through her involvement with the Miss World organization, she plans to take this program worldwide.

Opal stands at 180 centimeters and hails from Phuket. Her family owns a business in the historic district of the island. Currently, she is pursuing studies in international relations at Thammasat University and is fluent in Chinese, English, and Thai.

On Saturday, the competition featured participants hailing from four continents: Africa, the Americas and the Caribbean, Asia along with Oceania, and Europe.

The second-place finisher was Hasset Dereje from Ethiopia, succeeded by Maja Klajda from Poland and Aurélie Joachim from Martinique.
