Terry Wogan’s Widow Lady Helen Inherits Massive Fortune at 88, Nine Years After His Passing

June 12, 2025

The widow of Sir Terry Wogan, Helen, has left behind an enormous estate valued at nearly five times what her late husband had.

The ex-top model passed away at age 88 last year, and the full sum of money she left to her boys and girl has since come to light.

The documents approved by the High Court indicate that Lady Wogan bequeathed £4,948,334; however, after deducting costs and fees amounting to £31,000, the total was revised to £4,917,989, as reported by The Sun.

Lady Wogan provided tax-exempt gifts to two of her offspring: £850,000 went to her son Alan, who was also appointed as an executor of the estate, and £750,000 to Katherine.

The remainder of the money and her possessions were split between all three living children, including son Mark.

A trust fund of £100,000 was established for each of Lady Wogan’s grandchildren, which will become accessible to them once they reach the age of 25.

This occurred following her signing of her last will in February 2023, which was seven years subsequent to her husband’s death in 2016 at the age of 77.

Sir Terry, thought to be worth £20million at the height of his career, passed on £1million in his estate.

After succumbing to cancer, he passed away leaving behind his spouse of over five decades.

Following the demise of Lady Wogan, their son Mark honored his “beautiful” mother and grandmother when he made the announcement about her passing.

He penned: “Our wonderful mother passed away yesterday evening following an incredible life journey. Transforming from a vibrant Irish lass into Lady Wogan, she embodied elegance and poise.”

‘A mother, grandmother, and wife, whose essence is woven from love and kindness. Her inner fortitude and unwavering faith guided her through numerous challenges of life.’

‘An amusing disposition paired with an expressive way with words that would leave you bursting into laughter.’

A true lady through and through. She and Dad are probably enjoying a vodka martini together and wishing we wouldn’t cause too much commotion. We love you, Mom, now and always.

Lady Wogan was a prominent Irish model during the 1960s, hailing from a suburb of Dublin. She encountered her future spouse when he was a rising figure on Irish radio.

From 1993 until his partial retirement in December 2009, Sir Terry’s BBC Radio 2 morning program attracted an average audience of eight million listeners.

After he passed away, the BBC decided to rename Radio 2’s studios as Wogan House in honor of him.
