Over the past three years, the nation has seen unprecedentedly low birthrates, according to the Ministry of Health. Last year, the total fertility rate fell to merely 1.91 children for every woman, dipping below the replacement threshold.

The decrease in birthrates went from an average of 2.11 children per woman in 2021, dropping to 2.01 in 2022 and further declining to 1.96 in 2023.
