Corporal Jonah Kemboi Rotich, who had been a dedicated bodyguard for ex-Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba, was buried at his residence in Mlango Village, Kaseret, Uasin Gishu County.
The ceremony was attended by relatives and acquaintances, featuring the ex-Sports CS, who paid tribute to Rotich as an unpretentious and sincere individual whom they relied upon to safeguard them and their loved ones over eighteen years.
Nevertheless, what started as a calm and solemn event became disorderly when Rotich’s brother grabbed the microphone to deliver his eulogy.
Initially, he characterized his brother as a composed individual contrasting with himself, mentioning further that Rotich had silently borne numerous challenges.
“His Excellency Ababu Namwamba, although you were close to my brother during his time working for you, you remained unaware of the reality of his life at home. He couldn’t openly share his frustrations, anger, or concerns,” he started.
The mourning individual blamed his deceased sibling’s widow for ill-treatment throughout his life, stating Rotich had shared these concerns with him.
When Jonah wasn’t feeling well, he mentioned to me that he consistently performed his duties both at work and within the household,” he explained, clearly moved. “He stated that over the past 18 years of service, his boss, Ababu, never had any complaints about him, yet harmony eluded their home life.
He proceeded to state that he would tell the whole truth, and added that those who took offense at his comments should address their frustration elsewhere since he no longer concerned himself with it.
He admitted that Rotich was unwell, a condition that ultimately resulted in his demise, yet he maintained that his brother faced significant mental strain and experienced unrest within his household.
“A person typically finds tranquility at home after working hours, yet Jonah experienced the exact opposite. It pains me greatly to see my brother go through such struggles,” he confided.
Suddenly, his address was interrupted as the widow approached him demanding respect. Advancing with her index finger raised, she began weeping loudly, which created a commotion disrupting the event.
