On Tuesday night, members of the editing staff at Vienna’s Kurier newspaper stated that their freelance journalist, Elisabeth Sereda, had put together the interview by drawing from ‘a total of 18’ discussions she conducted with Eastwood during roundtable sessions.

However, because the piece was presented as an interview rather than a profile, the newspaper decided to sever its relationship with the writer.

“Although no quotes were invented and the interviews are properly recorded, allowing us to refute claims of fabrication, we have decided not to collaborate with the author moving forward due to our emphasis on transparency and adherence to rigorous editorial guidelines,” stated Kurier on their website.

The newspaper had recently featured interviews conducted by Sereda with stars like Jude Law and Elton John.
