How did Ababu Namwamba grieve for his bodyguard?

Rotich worked as Ababu’s security aide for 18 excellent years.

As they mourned him, Ababu shared how close their relationship was and portrayed him as an honest and dedicated Adventist.

He has been both a beloved brother and a genuine friend—FAMILY through and through. In his professional life, he remains compassionate; personally, he’s modest yet resolute. His loyalty and honesty are unquestionable. He has always stood beside me during various circumstances. Together we’ve embarked on careers, traversed the globe, shared dreams, nurtured our children, and created a sizable extended family. While I am devoted to my faith as a practicing Catholic, he faithfully follows Seventh-day Adventism. Our family feels secure under Rotich’s care—a sentiment deeply valued in today’s culture which often prioritizes narrow ethnic divisions over authentic human bonds, noted Ababu.

He continued:

Certainly, Rotich has felt just as comfortable within the Mulembe community of Ingo/Western Kenya as I have felt in his familiar surroundings of Cherang anymore and Eldoret. He stood as a shining example of unity transcending narrow-minded categorization and childish tribal pride. After battling numerous health issues with remarkable bravery and resilience, Rotich has now found peace. This sudden loss leaves us heartbroken, but we entrust his spirit to God, hoping for solace for his loved ones through divine compassion. May eternal rest be granted to Brother Jonah Kemboi Rotich, Oh Lord, and may everlasting light illuminate him.
