Longer Queues, Deeper Hunger: Food Shortages Worsen in Gaza

June 16, 2025

In Gaza City, lines extend indefinitely at temporary food stations. Among the destruction left by conflict, locals mention having survived multiple days without adequate sustenance. Mothers and fathers hold barren cooking vessels, hoping to receive a spoonful of broth that could serve as their kids’ sole dish for the day.

A lot of households, such as that of Dina Jendiya, depend completely on food handouts, dreading that their kids might go hungry if assistance ceases.

Since the conflict started last October, food prices have skyrocketed. A kilogram of flour now costs as much as ten times more than normal. Assistance is limited, and despair is on the rise.

At the same time, Israeli artillery fire hit camps in Khan Younis, resulting in multiple deaths and scores of injuries. Medical facilities are inundated, treating numerous wounded children as healthcare workers express their difficulty in managing the situation.
