The Capricorn Foundation has pledged N$2 million towards combating hunger and malnutrition in Namibia.
On Monday, the organization stated that it has pledged N$600,000 to the Gondwana Meal4Two Program aimed at providing nutritious meals nationwide.
Furthermore, N$1.4 million will be allocated to Genesis Namibia to tackle malnutrition in the Omaheke region.
Quintin Hartung, who works as an environmental and social impact manager at Gondwana, expressed deep gratitude for the Capricorn Foundation’s ongoing collaboration in the Meal4Two Program.
“One of our most enduring collaborators, the Capricorn Foundation along with Bank Windhoek, has been part of this voyage from the start by financing meals and assisting us in setting up self-sustaining gardens that equip communities for long-term empowerment rather than just short-term assistance,” he stated.
Genesis Namibia showed appreciation to the Capricorn Foundation for their steadfast dedication to nourishing the children of Namibia.
“Together with the Office of the Governor of Omaheke and our dedicated communities, we are not just delivering meals. We are delivering hope.
“We are delighted to be a part of this transformative effort, which provides dignity, care, and sustenance to our most at-risk children,” stated Riaan Van Zyl, the managing director of Genesis Namibia.
In 2024, the Capricorn Foundation initiated a pilot program with Genesis Namibia aimed at tackling malnutrition in the Omaheke district.
Initially, an amount of N$565,500 was allocated to benefit 500 children.
The trial initiative surpassed goals, leading the organization to commit additional funds to combat hunger within the area.
This aimed to assist numerous impacted children.
“As part of their continued commitment following the successful pilot program, the Capricorn Foundation has allocated an extra N$849,540 to Genesis Namibia. This funding will extend their assistance to 1,000 undernourished children within the Omaheke region. Altogether, the foundation’s pledge to Genesis Namibia now totals N$1.4 million,” according to the statement.
The Capricorn Foundation was established by the Capricorn Group in February 2020.
So far, it has invested N$40 million in corporate social responsibility programs and initiatives.
